Brian Fleming is a drummer, theatre maker, and festival director who has performed in over 30 countries, including all countries in Western Europe and Scandinavia and many on the Asian, African and American continents.
He has recorded on over 50 albums and performed with musicians such as Davy Spillane, Mamady Keita and The Chieftains.
Brian is credited in the Guinness Book of World Records 2001 as the creator of the “Millennium Drum,” the world’s largest drum.
He is the writer and performer of three successful one-man shows, ‘Gis a Shot of Your Bongos Mister,’ ‘Have Yis No Homes To go To?’and ‘A Sacrilegious Lesbian and Homosexual Parade’ with sell-out performances in Ireland and the US.
He has worked extensively in theatre and dance, including, The Abbey, Macnas, Barabbas, Donal O Kelly, Catherine Young Dance and Dance Theatre of Ireland.
He has an MA in Festive Arts, a Hdip in Arts Policy and Practice and a BA in psychology.
Brian loves art about interculturalism and social justice.
He was a founding member of the Afro-Irish bands De jimbe and Tig Linn.He has worked with New York’s inclusive St Pat’s For All Parade since 2001 and is co-director, since 2007 of the Big Bang Festival of Rhythm in Dublin.
